Welcome to our little home. I’m so glad you are here.
My name is McKenna. I am a wife to my best friend, Josh, mom to our sweet Adelyn, and choir teacher turned stay-at-home mom.
Life has a few new roles now, but something that I have always been passionate about is quality time with my family and those I love, coming together over a home-cooked meal.
I’ve watched many women in my life display the art of homemaking. You know, when you leave their home feeling full, but not just in your stomach. It was the attention to detail, nourishing meals, life-giving conversation, and encouraging prayers that captured me. The simple things. This is how I wanted my future home to be.
When I became a mother, this desire flourished. I began to explore more avenues of natural living and methods to become more self-sustaining. I pray that our doors will be open to whomever the Lord brings into our life – that our home would be a place of love, grace, and of truth.
Introducing, Sourdough
One way that I have been exploring homemaking has been through baking – specifically, sourdough. My sister-in-law graciously shared with me some of her starter and taught me how to bake my first loaf. Quickly, I became obsessed. All of a sudden there were bagels, cinnamon rolls, English muffins, pancakes … I couldn’t be stopped!
There’s something special about making your own. The sound of cutting into a crusty loaf of bread that you so lovingly shaped and scored yourself: pure satisfaction. Plus, anything slathered with a healthy slab of butter isn’t half bad either.
Now I am on a journey to provide that same feeling of home that I grew up with, for my family and anyone that walks through our doors. No frills or fusses, just simplicity. I hope this place can be a source of inspiration and encouragement for all to slow down in the busyness of life and enjoy the simple things; a place that feels like home, with some sourdough.
A few fun facts about me:
Primarily due to mission trips and choir tours, I have traveled to 11 different countries, including Spain, Peru, the Czech Republic, and the UK to name a few!
I won a collegiate conducting competition back in 2017.
The moment it becomes summertime, you will find me cutting into a watermelon. My favorite fruit by far.
Josh and I got married in an intimate wedding in 2020, but then had our big celebration in 2021 due to COVID. When asked which day we celebrate our anniversary, we say both, cause why not celebrate more often?!
A long-term goal of ours would be to own some land. Josh and I both would love for a place where our children could run wild with a few chickens in a coop. I’m collecting name suggestions if you have any to spare!
